Sandel's advanced HTAWS terrain avoidance technology selected by Rockwell Collins for incorporation into their rotorcraft products

Sandel Avionics announced today that it has signed a long-term software license agreement with Rockwell Collins to provide its Sandel HeliTAWS terrain warning technology for use in Rockwell Collins' integrated rotorcraft avionics systems.

NVIS-equipped Primary Attitude and Primary Navigation Display systems selected to retrofit Australian Army Bell 206B-1 helicopters, as shown in HAI Booth 3518

Sandel Avionics has announced that its 4-ATI SA4550 Primary Attitude (EADI) and SN4500 Primary Navigation (EHSI) Displays have been chosen by the Australian Army to upgrade its fleet of Bell 206B-1 Kiowa helicopters. Panel design and installation work for the systems, which included Sandel's on-demand NVIS option, was performed by Sikorsky Helitech in Brisbane.

Sandel Hire Don Foster to Manage Helicopter Fleet Sales

Sandel Avionics has hired experienced industry sales representative Don Foster as HTAWS Fleet Sales Manager, responsible for the new HeliTAWS terrain safety system as well as Sandel's other helicopter-specific AHRS and display products. With more than 20 years of sales, marketing and project management experience, Foster has previously provided aviation industry account development support for Avidyne and Ryan International. Foster will be based in Columbus, OH.

Sandel Delivers First HeliTAWS™ Fleet Unit to MSP Aero

Sandel Avionics has announced the delivery of its first HeliTAWS helicopter terrain safety system to MSP Aero of Minneapolis, MN, for installation in a fleet of Agusta A109 helicopters operated by North Memorial Medical Center (NMMC) of Robbinsdale, MN. Incorporating such features as Sandel's proprietary TrueAlert™ nuisance-alert elimination technology, off-airport landing capability, high-resolution 3-D terrain display and Class A HTAWS functions, Sandel HeliTAWS is expected to significantly increase the safety margins of NMMC's HEMS (helicopter emergency medical services) operations. HeliTAWS is also ideally suited for such other demanding helicopter missions as offshore oil rig operations, tactical military support, search and rescue, and airborne law enforcement. Sandel recently announced it had received TSO approval for HeliTAWS, followed almost immediately by a Part 27 STC.

Sandel Avionics has announced the delivery of its first HeliTAWS helicopter terrain safety system to Metro Aviation, Shreveport, LA, which will install the unit in one of its fleet of Eurocopter AS350 helicopters. Adding Sandel’s proprietary TrueAlert™ nuisance-alert elimination technology, off-airport landing capability and high-resolution 3-D terrain display capabilities to its Class A HTAWS functions, Sandel HeliTAWS is expected to significantly increase the safety of such demanding helicopter missions as HEMS (helicopter emergency medical services); offshore oil rig operations; tactical military support; search and rescue; and airborne law enforcement. Sandel previously announced that it had received TSO approval for HeliTAWS on August 16, 2010.
