VISTA, Cal., October 23, 2013 – Sandel Avionics, Inc., a global leader in compact, integrated display systems technologies, today announced it is celebrating its 15 year anniversary in business.
Sandel was founded in 1998 with the purpose to bring high performance, color graphics avionics to unserved customers by recognizing that the emerging technology of rear projection could be used to produce compact cockpit displays.
After a successful introduction of the ground breaking SN3308 Electronic HSI with ColorMap, Sandel turned its attention to Terrain Awareness and Warning Systems (TAWS), and redefined the fixed-wing TAWS market. By designing the Sandel ST3400 TAWS̶―a full color terrain warning display with advanced algorithms for the air transport market, and enabling entire fleets to improve safety at a low installed cost―it became and is the #1 selling TAWS today. Improving on TAWS, Sandel redefined the technology to eliminate nuisance alerts in real-world rotary-wing operations, giving superior safety benefits to helicopters only previously available to fixed-wing aircraft.
The Sandel product line includes Primary Navigation and Primary Attitude displays, AHRS, TAWS and HTAWS, which all have found application in both civil and military use, as well as worldwide adoption. Most recently, Sandel products are being installed on Sikorsky’s new generation S-70i Black Hawks and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) new factory-built helicopters, listed in Eurcopter’s bluebook for the EC135 and EC145, and Sandel HeliTAWS software imbedded in Rockwell Collins newly launched Helisure product line.
During the past 15 years, Sandel has won a number of awards including, AgustaWestland Safety Award, Aircraft Electronics Association Associate Member of the Year, and most recently SDBJ Innovation Award in Technology.
Sandel also holds more than 30 U. S. and international patents and its products are included in approximately 50 FAA Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs).
Sandel will celebrate its 15 year anniversary at the National Business Aviation Association Annual Convention, October 23rd from 3pm to 5pm, Booth #C9340. Host bar and refreshments will be served along with prize drawings.
