Installations to begin this fall on Korea National Police helicopters

Sandel Avionics Inc., the global leader in terrain, obstacle and wire alerting technology for helicopters, has signed a long-term supply agreement with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI). Sandel will supply its new Mil 810-G qualified HeliTAWS™ ST3453H for factory installation on new KAI helicopters manufactured in Korea, including Surions in production for the Korean National Police. Surions are derivatives of the Korean Utility Helicopter adapted to meet airborne law requirements.

Sandel Primary Navigation Display and AHRS Chosen by Japan Ground Self Defense Force for Helicopter Fleet

New fleet of Enstrom helicopters will be equipped with Sandel's Primary Navigation Displays and AHRS with Reversionary Attitude Display mode

Sandel Avionics, Inc. has announced it has been chosen by the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) to provide its 3-ATI SN3500 Primary Navigation Display and SG102 Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) with unique Reversionary Attitude Display mode for a fleet of 30 new Enstrom 480B turbine helicopters purchased by the JGSDF. A representative of the Japanese military met with Sandel and Enstrom representatives at the HAI Heli-Expo 2011 and specified that Sandel's package was exactly what they wanted in their new training helicopter fleet. The final purchase order was submitted to Enstrom Helicopter for the fleet purchase at HAI Heli-Expo 2012. Enstrom will begin configuring the JGSDF helicopters with the Sandel products immediately and plans call for completing helicopter deliveries over the next three years.

Salute to Excellence AgustaWestland Safety Award given for work on terrain avoidance

Sandel Avionics Inc. has announced that its President and CEO, Gerry Block, has been awarded the Helicopter Association International (HAI) Salute to Excellence AgustaWestland Safety Award, honoring his work in advancing the state of terrain avoidance and warning systems (TAWS) and, in particular, developing the Sandel ST3400H HeliTAWS™ wire and terrain avoidance system. In announcing the award, HAI noted that TAWS and helicopter TAWS have "saved untold numbers of lives by helping pilots avoid controlled flight into terrain."
