Risty, MBA, in a newly created strategic position of Director of Marketing, responsible for growing the overall brand awareness of Sandel's displays and safety products with a focus on building even greater acceptance of the Sandel HeliTAWS™ wire and terrain alerting system. An experienced marketing professional whose background includes strategic planning, online marketing and project management, Risty has held executive positions in the international trade and telecommunications industries, including the World Trade Center San Diego and Qualcomm, Inc.

New MIL-STD version, the Sandel HeliTAWS ST3453H, incorporates a 1553 bus interface

Sandel Avionics has announced it has been selected by the Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, Stratford, CT, to provide a new MIL-STD version of its Sandel HeliTAWS wire and terrain alerting system, the model ST3453H, for forward-fit installation aboard the new S-70i Black Hawk helicopter in mid-2012.

New function for Sandel Primary Nav Displays improves GPS/FMS tracking

Sandel Avionics has announced it has received FAA TSO certification for a roll steering software upgrade in its popular 3-ATI SN3500 and 4-ATI SN4500 Primary Navigation Displays. The pilot-selectable feature works with an aircraft's autopilot or flight director and compatible GPS or FMS unit to automatically make smooth, hands-off turns while flying a sequence of GPS waypoints. The new roll steering function, which requires field loading software but no wiring or modification to existing SN3500/SN4500 installations, also flies holding patterns, GPS approach entries and other maneuvers not supported by standard autopilot tracking modes.

Sandel Ships First WireWatch™ Wire Alerting System

Sandel Avionics has announced it has delivered its first production WireWatch™ wire alerting application to MSP Aero of Minneapolis, MN, for installation in a fleet of Agusta A109 helicopters operated by North Memorial Medical Center (NMMC) of Robbinsdale, MN. The industry’s first onboard wire-strike avoidance device, WireWatch, a proprietary feature of the Sandel HeliTAWS™ system, incorporates an updatable database of transmission lines at or above 100’ AGL to provide visual display and aural warnings of the hazard location on its high-resolution 3-ATI display.

Sandel HeliTAWS™ completes US Navy SH-60 Ground Tests

Sandel Avionics has announced it has completed the ground test phase of a U.S. Navy demonstration evaluation (Demval) of its ST3400H HeliTAWS wire and terrain avoidance system in a Sikorsky SH-60 test bed, successfully interfacing with the helicopter’s existing avionics and electrical systems. The next step of the program will be to install the COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) HeliTAWS unit in a Sikorsky SH-60F helicopter and begin flight testing.
