Sandel Introduces LED Upgrade for 3-ATI Primary Navigation Display

SN3500 with LED backlighting is now shipping, offering cost savings, 10,000-hour MTBF and a host of operational benefits

Vista, CA, (January 7, 2008) - Sandel Avionics, the leader in avionics retrofit, announced it has begun shipping an updated version of its popular 3-ATI SN3500 Primary Navigation Display that features an LED (light-emitting diode) backlighting system. Providing aircraft operators with improvements in display quality, product longevity and overall cost of ownership, this advancement replaces Sandel's previous backlight technology with a long-life display rated at 10,000 hours MTBF.

Operational benefits of the LED backlighting upgrade include increased sunlight readability, resolution and color fidelity, along with enhanced unit life and dispatch reliability, and a significant reduction in maintenance costs and aircraft downtime. "Seeing the dramatic improvement that LED backlighting offered in our 4-ATI systems, we made it a priority to upgrade the 3-ATI SN3500, to provide piston-aircraft operators with the same display enhancement, cost savings and other benefits," said Gerry Block, Sandel's CEO.

Sandel Avionics, located in Vista, California, is a privately held company that provides compact integrated display systems for general aviation, business aviation, air transport and regional, and rotary-wing aircraft. Recent successes include the company's best-selling, turbine-class ST3400 TAWS, and a suite of 4-ATI LED-backlit attitude and navigation displays.
