Sandel Delivers 1,000th TAWS Unit

Vista, CA (January 10, 2005)-Sandel Avionics has announced the shipment of its 1,000th TAWS unit, achieving this significant avionics milestone in just over 18 months of product availability. Manufacturing two versions of its popular ST3400 TAWS/RMI, for Class A and Class B applications, Sandel has surged in sales to become the industry's number two TAWS provider for corporate, regional and air transport markets. A 3-ATI-size system that features a TAWS database, processor and oversized, high-resolution color display in a single panel-mounted unit, the ST3400 meets TSO C151b for both Class A and Class B requirements. Also incorporating RMI functionality, the ST3400 serves as a drop-in replacement for conventional RMI units, displaying terrain maps, topographic maps, navigation waypoint maps and TCAS data.

"We're pleased to have reached the 1,000-unit threshold so quickly, especially given the roadblocks that have been thrown up in an attempt to prevent customers from having a choice in their TAWS options," said Gerry Block, President and CEO of Sandel. "It's a tribute to our customers that they have recognized the difference in performance, safety, ease of installation and overall value that the ST3400 offers."

Enjoying support among aftermarket dealerships and OEM service centers, in particular, the ST3400 TAWS/RMI continues to enjoy a strong demand as the upcoming FAA's March 29, 2005, TAWS mandate nears. The base ST3400 has a list price of $34,500 in Class A configuration and $20,950 in Class B configuration, and production has been increased to ensure an adequate supply of systems are available for last-minute orders.
