NewsKitty Hawk Airlines Chooses Sandel TAWSVista, CA (April 26, 2004) -- Kitty Hawk Airlines, the largest provider of wholesale air freight transportation services in the U.S. and Canada, has selected Sandel Avionics' ST3400 Class A TAWS/RMI for its fleet of Boeing 727 aircraft. An FAR Part 121 air cargo carrier with more than 30 years of aviation experience and a state-of-the-art hub in Ft. Wayne, IN, Kitty Hawk provides mission-critical, scheduled overnight air cargo service to approximately 50 U.S. cities and Toronto, Ontario. The Sandel ST3400 TAWS/RMI is a compact, affordable TAWS solution that offers full FAA compliance for Class A operations in a stand-alone, one-box system designed for compatibility with virtually all analog and digital aircraft types. Its Class B counterpart is the most cost-effective TAWS solution available, exceeding the minimum requirements for FAA compliance with a full-time terrain display. Configured in a 3-ATI format for easy, drop-in cockpit installation, the ST3400 incorporates a TAWS computer and crisp, clear flat-panel display to offer TAWS warning functions, topographic mapping capability, and even runway and waypoint overlays. Bruce Embree, Kitty Hawk's Director of Quality, noted that Sandel's TAWS was a good value. "In evaluating our options for TAWS compliance, we found the Sandel ST3400, with its compact size and ease of installation, was the perfect fit for our operational needs," he said. Certification and initial installations of the 12-shipset initial order are expected to be complete by the end of the second quarter of 2004. |
