NewsSandel TAWS Chosen By Regional AirlinesVista, CA (May 10, 2004) -- Following its successful certification of the Sandel ST3400 TAWS/RMI for the Beech 1900, Sandel Avionics has announced that its ST3400 system has been selected by three regional airlines to provide TAWS compliance for their Beech 1900 fleets. The three airlines are Air Midwest, part of the Mesa Air Group based in Phoenix, AZ; Great Lakes Airlines of Cheyenne, WY; and Skyway Airlines of Milwaukee, WI. The latest in a series of regional airline orders for Sandel, these announcements bring the number of Beech 1900 installations to more than 100 for the ST3400 TAWS system. Enabling Beech 1900C and 1900D operators to affordably and efficiently meet the FAA's TAWS mandate deadline, the 3-ATI-sized ST3400 is an integrated TAWS computer and color display that meets or exceeds TSO C151b in both its Class A and Class B versions. Designed to reduce the occurrence of Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT), the single greatest cause of passenger fatalities, the ST3400 also functions as an RMI and displays terrain maps, topographic maps, navigational waypoint maps and TCAS data. The basic Class A ST3400 has a list price of $34,500, while the Class B ST3400 lists for $20,950. A drop-in cockpit instrument that requires no remote boxes, the ST3400 is compatible with virtually all digital and analog aircraft. Accommodating a wide variety of GPS and FMS interfaces, it also incorporates TCAS I and RMI functions for unequaled overall value. Available immediately, the Sandel ST3400 can be installed in a fraction of the time -- and at a fraction of the cost -- of competing systems. The FAA's TAWS mandate deadline for operators of Part 91, Part 135 and Part 121 turbine-powered aircraft is March 29, 2005. |
