NewsSandel Receives STC For ST3400 TAWS/RMIVista, California, July 19, 2002...... Sandel Avionics, Inc. of Vista, California has been awarded a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the installation of dual Class-A ST3400 TAWS in a King Air C90B. This King Air C90B installation was completed by Duncan Aviation of Van Nuys California under the direction of Tim Annis. A follow on installation under a Form 337 approval has also been completed for a single Class-B ST3400 TAWS in a King Air C90B by Woodland Aviation of Woodland Hills California under the direction of Fred Atwood. The ST3400 is a TSO'd TAWS computer and display which is mounted in the pilot's primary instrument cluster in place of the aircraft's RMI. It offers the pilot benefit of a full-time terrain display that does not timeshare a radar or MFD. The ST3400 uses a 2nd Generation of Sandel's patented display technology to produce a 4" image in a 3ATI case with ultra-wide viewing angle. Various models are suitable for TAWS Class-A or Class-B operation. Greg Wilson, Director of Product Marketing says, "Sandel's objective was to develop a versatile TAWS system with superb pilot performance and low installed cost". The Sandel ST3400 TAWS features the lowest installed cost of any TAWS system and has flexible interfaces compatible with any generation of aircraft avionics. Sandel also produces the SN3308 Colormap© electronic HSI, which has become the world's best-selling electronic HSI. |
