Sandel Announces Under $20k TSO'd Class B TAWS

Vista, California, July 23, 2002......Sandel Avionics, of Vista, California announces the availability of a Class B version of its ST3400 TAWS, priced at $19,950. The ST3400 meets TSO C151a for Terrain Awareness and Warning Equipment and is a complete system including both computer and display.

At this price point, the TSO'd ST3400 is expected to be a popular aftermarket product for light twins as well as FAA mandated operators of turbine-powered aircraft which require Class B compliance. The ST3400 is the only self-contained TAWS system, and the only system to put the terrain display in the pilot's primary instrument cluster due to its exclusive 3ATI size.

Gerry Block, President of Sandel, says, "We're proud to have created a very high performance product at the right price to serve the owner/pilot who is looking for additional safety. The ST3400 raises the bar for cost/safety benefits and its unique panel position offers tangible benefits for the pilot."

Sandel is distributing a CD-ROM containing a Windows compatible demonstration program of the ST3400 to customers who wish to preview the system. The CD-ROM is available by contacting Sandel and also contains technical documentation about the ST3400.

Sandel has developed a 2nd generation LCD projection technology for the ST3400. It features an ultra-wide field of view and 2000 hour lamp life. The 3ATI package allows the ST3400 to be positioned directly in the pilot's primary instrument cluster providing full-time terrain display where it is most useful.

Sandel also produces the SN3308 Colormap© electronic HSI, which has become the world's best-selling electronic HSI.
