Sandel Introduces Advanced SN3500 Compact EHSI Series

Oshkosh, WI (July 27, 2004)-Sandel Avionics has announced the introduction of a revolutionary new upgradable compact EHSI system that provides enhanced situational awareness with a unique combination of navigation and safety features, including compass, map, flight plan and RMI, along with traffic, terrain and weather displays. Designated the SN3500 series, the new product line includes the basic SN3500 EHSI, which features Sandel's third-generation, ultra-wide-viewing angle display and incorporates Nav functions and support for selected Mode S transponder traffic input and WX-500 Stormscope®; the SN3500T, which adds FAA-certified Class C TAWS warnings, along with Relative and Topo terrain mapping; the SN3500W, which offers Nav and an advanced interface to WSI datalink weather; and the SN3500TW, which provides all Nav and safety functions.

A replacement for Sandel's popular SN3308 unit, the previous-generation system with more than 4,000 units in service, the new SN3500 is also a compact, self-contained 3-ATI-sized unit designed for compatibility with virtually all digital and analog aircraft. Accommodating a wide variety of sensor inputs, the unit's long list of built-in features includes an internal Nav converter, internal autopilot switching, an internal Jeppesen NavDataT database, and a bright, sunlight-readable display that provides as much screen area as a four-inch instrument.

Certifiable for use as a primary flight display, the SN3500 series provides a new level of compact performance. "In addition to revolutionizing the concept of the EHSI, Sandel is adding an unprecedented amount of flexibility for aircraft operators, enabling them to specify the feature set they want, while providing them with the ability to display essential safety information right where they need it-on their primary display," said Gerry Block, Sandel's president.

Scheduled to be available early 2005, the Sandel SN3500 can be installed in a fraction of the time-and at a fraction of the cost-of other EHSI units. Retail price for the basic SN3500 unit starts at $9,990.
