Sandel Avionics and Kollsman Launch Joint Cockpit Display Program

New Initiative Combines Sandel's Display Strengths With Kollsman's Expertise in Real-Time Sensor Applications

Vista, CA, and Merrimack, NH (November 10, 2005) -- Sandel Avionics and Kollsman, Inc, have announced the formation of a joint development program incorporating Sandel's display and Sandel Avionics and Kollsman Launch Joint Cockpit Display Program interface technology and Kollsman's Vision-Based Cockpit™ initiative. Initial technology efforts will focus on integrating Sandel's advanced displays with Kollsman's small-footprint head-up display, the MicroHUD (µVisHUD™). A follow-on program will add Kollsman's new GAViS™, a heads-down, forward-looking infrared (FLIR) capability, to Sandel's display products. In both cases, the object of the joint development program will be to reduce the size and cost of these advanced display technologies, making them available to corporate and general aviation.

Intended for use by general and business aviation aircraft, both technology initiatives promise to bring a new level of situation awareness and safety to GA, including the emerging very-light jet market and a majority of the legacy business and general aviation fleet.

"Sandel is all about products that bring improved capabilities to our customer's aircraft. We are tremendously excited about this joint development program, which gets us all closer to a safer and more capable cockpit, and for the opportunity to work with Kollsman and their tremendous engineering prowess in these areas," noted Gerry Block, Sandel's President.

"We believe that, in Sandel, we have found an ideal partner to bring our MicroHUD and GAViS programs to the corporate and GA markets, enabling more pilots to experience the advantages already enjoyed by the air transport industry and the military," stated Randy Moore, Kollsman's Executive Vice President and General Manager.
