Sandel Expands Worldwide Customer, Certification Base for TAWS

Vista, CA (December 31, 2004)-With the rush to comply with the FAA's TAWS mandate deadline of March 29, 2005, a significant number of aircraft operators around the world, including 12 airlines on five continents, have recently chosen Sandel's integrated ST3400 for their airline and corporate Class A and Class B TAWS applications. Customers such as Atlas Air, Kitty Hawk Airlines, Express.net Airlines and Centurion Air Cargo, along with hundreds of individual corporate flight departments and such regional operations as Air Midwest, Great Lakes and Skyways, are equipping their fleets with the cost-effective, easy-to-install ST3400, a compact 3-ATI TAWS/RMI unit with a full-time, high-resolution terrain display. In addition to certifications for corporate Gulfstream II, Gulfstream III and Beechjet 400 aircraft, new Class A STCs have recently been issued for the Boeing 727, 737 and 747 families, the DC-9 series, and the Jetstream 31 and 32 aircraft. Pending certifications include the DC-10 series, Airbus A300, Metro 23, Embraer 120, Falcon 20 and Lear 25 aircraft types.

A 3-ATI sized system that incorporates a TAWS computer and an oversized high-resolution, full-color display in a single panel-mounted unit, the ST3400 meets TSO C151b for both Class A and Class B requirements. Also incorporating RMI functionality, the ST3400 serves as a drop-in replacement for conventional RMI units, displaying terrain maps, topographic maps, navigation waypoint maps and TCAS data. The base ST3400 has a list price of $34,500 in Class A configuration and $20,950 in Class B configuration.
