NewsSandel Introduces Advanced SN3500H EHSI for HelicoptersVista, CA (January 31, 2005) -- Sandel Avionics has announced the introduction of a new compact, turbine-class EHSI for rotorcraft, the SN3500H, that features the same bright, wide-angle display technology found in the latest generation of aircraft. Providing true 180-degree viewability in both the horizontal and vertical axes, the SN3500H's oversized display also outperforms CRT and LCD screens found in other compact HSIs in terms of brightness and contrast, yielding unprecedented readability and ease of use. A true helicopter system, the rugged 3-ATI SN3500H meets military specifications for vibration resistance and has already been selected for rotorcraft operations. Other key features found in the easy-to-install, panel-mounted SN3500H include 'smart' I/O that automatically accepts inputs from digital and analog aircraft sensors; Stormscope©, TAWS and TCAS I/Mode 'S' traffic interfaces; multiple HSI navigation modes; and powerful, easy-to-use controls. The smart I/O is also expandable to accommodate datalink weather. "We're tremendously excited about the SN3500H because it helps us demonstrate how an affordable, self-contained system can provide a significant technology upgrade for a variety of helicopter applications," said Gerry Block, President and CEO of Sandel. "With its unmatched viewing angle, outstanding sunlight readability and excellent human factors, we think helicopter operators will be pleased and impressed with the SN3500H's performance." Drawing on its significant HSI experience in general aviation, along with its recent success with Class A and Class B TAWS systems, Sandel has developed a light, compact unit that serves as a drop-in replacement instrument in many helicopter panels. Moreover, with Sandel's innovative packaging concepts, the 3-ATI SN3500H actually has as much screen area as a typical 4-ATI unit, enabling it to clearly present navigation and safety data on one display. The base SN3500 has a list price of $9,900, and interface upgrades start at just $1,500. About Sandel AvionicsLocated in Vista, California, Sandel Avionics, Inc, is a privately held company that provides compact integrated display systems for general aviation, business aviation, air transport and regional aircraft. Enjoying significant success with the introduction of its ST3400 TAWS, Sandel is in the process of developing a series of additional innovative avionics applications.
