NVIS-equipped Primary Attitude and Primary Navigation Display systems selected to retrofit Australian Army Bell 206B-1 helicopters, as shown in HAI Booth 3518
Vista, CA (March 4, 2011)--Sandel Avionics has announced that its 4-ATI SA4550 Primary Attitude (EADI) and SN4500 Primary Navigation (EHSI) Displays have been chosen by the Australian Army to upgrade its fleet of Bell 206B-1 Kiowa helicopters. Panel design and installation work for the systems, which included Sandel's on-demand NVIS option, was performed by Sikorsky Helitech in Brisbane.
With an unmatched 180-degree viewing angle and high sunlight readability, Sandel's 4-ATI SN4500 and SA4550 displays were designed as form, fit and Increased function replacements for older electromechanical displays. These compact, modular units are self-contained, making them easy to install, and attitude and NAV units may be installed separately or in tandem; both feature SandelSmart™ I/O to interface with virtually any digital or analog aircraft, and both are available with optional on-demand NVIS compatibility. For military applications, all of these units are certified to very demanding helicopter gun ship vibration levels in accordance with DO160F, and are available with optional analog and digital TACAN interfaces.
