News & Events Australian Army Chooses Sandel 4-ATI Displays for Kiowas NVIS-equipped Primary Attitude and Primary Navigation Display systems selected to retrofit Australian Army Bell 206B-1 helicopters, as shown in HAI Booth 3518Vista, CA (March 4, 2011)--Sandel Avionics has announced that its 4-ATI SA4550 Primary Attitude (EADI) and SN4500 Primary Navigation (EHSI) Displays have been chosen by the Australian Army to upgrade its fleet of Bell 206B-1 Kiowa helicopters. Panel design and installation work for the systems, which included Sandel's on-demand NVIS option, was performed by Sikorsky Helitech in Brisbane.
"We determined that their unique combination of features and rugged reliability, all at an attractive price, made the selection of the Sandel 4-ATI displays an easy one," said Ray Formosa, Program Manager at the Army Aviation Systems Program Office. "In fact, we're planning on buying additional shipsets of these systems later this year." "This selection further confirms the value of our 4-ATI units for military retrofit," said Jerry Henry, Sandel's Director of Sales. "We're pleased that our COTS products can provide reliable performance at a reasonable price, extending the useful life of these Kiowa helicopters."
