Metro Aviation to serve as launch customer for Sandel’s latest product
Anaheim, CA (February 23, 2009)— At the annual Heli-Expo in Anaheim, CA, Sandel Avionics announced that it has received a multiple-unit order for its new ST3400H Helicopter Terrain Awareness and Warning System (HTAWS) from Metro Aviation. The commitment from the Shreveport based completion center represents the first order for the ST3400H which was introduced at the Heli-Expo. Metro will initially install the ST3400H in their fleet of air medical aircraft and plans to offer the option to existing and future completion and operations customers.
“When we first heard about the ST3400H we were excited to hear that there is a new option for helicopter TAWS,” said Milton Geltz, Managing Director of Metro Aviation. “The integrated display, TSO C194 compliance and NVIS compatibility were the deciding factors leading to the selection of the ST3400H for our fleet.”
“We are extremely proud to be working with Metro Aviation as the launch customer for the ST3400H,” said Jerry Henry, Sandel’s Director of Sales. “This represents a significant commitment on their part and a validation of our design.”
Sandel’s new ST3400H is a self-contained TSO C194 certified HTAWS with an integrated LED-backlit display showing high-resolution terrain, obstacles, traffic and GPS flight plan. The 3-ATI package is installed in place of a radar-altimeter indicator and will display radar altitude and MINS setting from digital and analog radar altimeters.
