Sandel Avionics has hired experienced industry sales representative Don Foster as HTAWS Fleet Sales Manager, responsible for the new HeliTAWS terrain safety system as well as Sandel's other helicopter-specific AHRS and display products. With more than 20 years of sales, marketing and project management experience, Foster has previously provided aviation industry account development support for Avidyne and Ryan International. Foster will be based in Columbus, OH.

With its recent TSO and initial Part 27 STC, Sandel's new HeliTAWS system is currently shipping back orders and garnering significant interest among helicopter operators, both civilian and military. The 3-ATI HeliTAWS is a ruggedized, self-contained system with a high-resolution, NVG-compatible display that retrofits by simply removing and replacing an existing Radar Altimeter indicator where available. Incorporating such features as Sandel's proprietary TrueAlert™ nuisance-alert elimination technology, off-airport landing capability, high-resolution 3-D terrain display and Class A HTAWS functions, Sandel HeliTAWS is expected to significantly increase safety margins in such missions as HEMS (helicopter emergency medical services) and military tactical support. HeliTAWS is also ideally suited for such demanding missions as land-based and offshore oil and gas exploration operations, search and rescue, and airborne law enforcement.

"We're pleased to add such a capable manager to our sales team," noted Jerry Henry, Sandel's Director of Sales. "Don brings us a wealth of experience, having managed sales operations both in and outside of aviation, and I know that helicopter fleet operators will enjoy working with him and learning about the benefits that HeliTAWS offers," he said.

Sandel Avionics, located in Vista, California, is a privately held company that provides compact integrated display systems for business aviation, air transport and regional, and rotary-wing aircraft. Recent successes include the company’s best-selling, turbine-class ST3400 TAWS and its 4-ATI retrofit primary flight displays, and its new HeliTAWS is the helicopter industry’s first complete helicopter safety solution.
